Computer-Aided Instrumentation in OSU's Machines Lab

| An upgrade to OSU's undergraduate electrical machines lab is currently nearing completion. It features the introduction of digital signal acquisition, processing, and display, utilizing National Instruments' LabVIEW\virtual in-strumentation" product. Some of the features which are now available are real-time display of waveforms, phasor diagrams , real and reactive power, and spectral analysis. In addition, new prime movers/dynamometers have been purchased which allow the measurement of torque and speed (with or without interfacing to the computer) and, during operation as a dynamometer, manual or computer adjustment of the mechanical load. The laboratory upgrade is described , and some examples of collected data are presented.
